Thank you to everyone who has liked or commented on my progress, it really means a lot to me. I figure daily updates will get to be old real quick so I am going to do a weekly update Sunday night or Monday morning.
With a few indulgent exceptions (HuHot, Genghis, Pho Hieu and Panang) I have been doing really well on minimizing the amount of food I take in each meal. In fact, as time goes by, going to places like the ones just mentioned are becoming a little painful. Saturday evening I went to HuHot and had two bowls of stir fry. I felt so miserable aftewards and even several hours later I had trouble sleeping from discomfort. I am thinking I may still enjoy those places, but on a carry out basis or doggy bag basis so I don't over due it at one sitting.
By the end of the week I was up to jogging a mile without stopping, which surprised myself as when I started a week ago, I made it 1/4 mile and had to walk. Guess there might still be an athlete still here somewhere under the fat suit!
The lowest point on the scale during the week was 297.0. Start of June I was 326, so I am really proud of myself. I am starting the week at 297.8, which is a bit surprising since we spend part of the weekend in Wichita and anytime we travel my eating plans seem to get lost along the road somewhere.
Have a good week everyone, I'll check back in later! Felix.

Day Five
Been quite a day, almost forgot to post! I'm tired so will be short tonight
Did well on snacks, did splurge a little at dinner and had a small bowl of Pho with some fresh (not fried) spring rolls.
Started the day at 297 even, so over a pound lost from the previous day. Ran 3/4 mile, walked 1/8, ran 1/2 mile and walked 1/8.
Funny thing happened later in the day, I kinda wanted to take a break and go run again. I didn't have time to do it but considering my overall disdain for running, thought that was interesting. And in all of the above, when I say run, I really mean a steady jog. Goodnight all and thanks!

Day four
Started the day off at the gym on the mini track. Today I jogged half a mile, walked 1/8, jogged another half mile and walked another 1/8 to cool down. I hit the last lap (each lap is 1/16 mile) of the second 1/2 mile at a full run, it felt really good to open it up and run, good thing it was the last lap!
Did really well on food today, seems to be a lot easier when working from home to eat more often. Started the day at 298.8 so lost almost another pound!
Looking forward to the run tomorrow, see if I can hit the 1/2 mile mark again straight through! Might jump in the pool and tread some tomorrow, help loosen everything up.

Day three
Third day of change, woke up and weighed in at 299.4, so the Genghis and popcorn from the day before didn't disrupt my progress too much!
Jogged a little over half a mile and walked an equal amount. Talked to BJ today and he gave me some advice on changing up my routine a little bit and some things I should do in the weight room to balance upper body workout with the workout my lower body is getting. Thanks BJ!
Did pretty good on the snacks, overdid it at lunch (curse you Panang with your Pad Thai and Red Curry Chicken). Dinner was cut up chicken, red peppers, yellow peppers, squash and zucchini cooked up in a skillet with some olive oil on 1 cup of wild rice. Must say it was really good. Had about 3 sodas today, 2 in the form of a single 32oz drink this morning. Will do better on those tomorrow

Day two
Woke up at 299.8!! I was pretty excited to be under the 300 mark for the first time in a couple years. Granted it's not much under but still.
Didn't make it to the gym today, but got some good activity in doing some stuff in the house today. Today was a food wins day, had a small breakfast and a snack, but went to see TF3 and hit Genghis Grill for lunch. Steak, sausage, lots of onions and peppers and some fried rice. Added a little too much of the hot stuff, so I ended up being the entertainment of the table. Had popcorn at the theater and came home very full, don't think I'll be snacking this evening.
Plan for tomorrow is to be up by 5:30 and do at least a mile on the track before heading off to work.
Thanks everyone!

Day one
Morning weight was 300.4, wanna see that in the 2's soon!
Started the day off intending to hit the gym early and like most plans, other stuff got in the way. Had a guy pick some stuff up I had on Craigslist, a certified letter to pickup, a trip to the tag office only to find out the stuff I needed to do couldn't be done on a Saturday.
Made it to the gym around noon, jogged 1/4 mile, walked 1/4, jogged 1/4 and finished the last 1/4 walking. It was only a mile but my calves and lungs were burning good. Spent a decent amount of time in the shop tinkering with the golf cart, not strenuous exercise, but my arms are a little sore from the motions of mechanical stuff. With the heat I was careful to stay hydrated.
Did good on the snacks, missed a couple throughout the day from just being so busy. It felt good knowing i had pushed myself to finish the mile, I wasn't sure I could.
I think tomorrow could be the morning I wake up and be below the 300# mark in a long time.

A new day with change
Today is the day I woke up and decided it was finally tomorrow. Over the past 15 years I have been slowly drifting into worse condition each year. Eating unhealthy foods, downing soda's, always saying tomorrow would be the day I take a jog and get started on a healthier life.
A friend of mine from years past saw a comment I made on Facebook and he shared a recent blog of his own with me. I initially found his blog to be a good read and insightful, but the more I though about it, it was more than just something he shared with me, but what could be a key to my own journey, my own transformation blog. Here is a link to that blog, I hope Jim doesn't mind: www.thefitnessbuddy.com/blog
So with that being said, today I start a blog, a run and a different attitude towards life. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired (Sorry Dave Ramsey, it just fit) of being fat and unable to join in athletic activities I used to love. I would like to share a little background of the past months so you get a feel for how I got to this day.
Over the past 8 months I have been trying different things to be healthier. In December I gave up sodas. In February I hadn't lost any weight so I started drinking them again, but the temporary cessation did allow me to kick the habit of 5-7 cans a day and step down to 2-4 a day, not excellent, but was a step in the right direction, right? Over the past couple months I have been really trying to focus on smaller meals over what I eat, and to my surprise, I am down 26ish pounds just from the change in eating habits.
I am working on healthier "snacks" as i call them since I want to get away from "meals". I am honestly shocked at the weight I've lost just in moving to a snacking routine, because 70% of my snacks are terrible food choices. I have been mulling this weight loss over in my head and I know that "snacks" alone won't help me lose all the weight I need to, so I have to continue making changes to keep the momentum.
I don't have a particular weight goal in mind, I think that's dumb. I want to be healthy, fit and be able to join in on an indoor soccer game and play for more than 30-60 seconds at a time. I want someone else to be that quick sub to grab a drink and then get back on the pitch.
My goal is to update this every evening with a snapshot of my day. I will appreciate lots of feedback, I can use all the encouragement and coaching I can get from my Family and Friends. Thanks - Felix.
